A framework for identifying U.I.S., recognising its symptoms, examining field examples, and introducing the intervention protocol: O.A.U. — Oder aber Uber.
U.I.S. can strike any German, anywhere, at any time. It is most common in unremarkable locations: pavements, bus stops, car parks, suburban side streets.
Short distances that barely register as decisions at all. These places are so familiar that discomfort is absorbed without question.
What follows are four case studies of Uber Inertia Syndrome in the wild.
