The ARD documentary series “XATAR – One Life Is Not Enough” looks beyond the public image of German rap icon Xatar and sets out in search of the man behind the persona, Giwar Hajabi — caught between self-staging, contradictions, fractures, failures, and longings.
From a refugee shelter to the German charts, from internet cafés in Bonn to the executive floors of the music industry and the big screen, from the streets to prison, then to his own office tower and finally back to his closest circle: Few figures have embodied the contradictions and extremes of German rap culture as intensely as gangster rapper Xatar.
A year after his sudden death, this documentary series looks back on a life marked by flight, prison, chart successes, a business empire and bankruptcy. For the first time, his wife Farvah speaks at length about their life together.
